Orange French Toast

Orange French Toast

With a hint of citrus and a dusting of sugar, this breakfast recipe brings complex flavors to an old favorite.


2 to 4 servings


  • 2 eggs
  • grated zest of 2 oranges
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons Florida Crystals® Organic Raw Cane Sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 slices firm bread
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • additional (for sprinkling) Florida Crystals® Organic Raw Cane Sugar


Beat eggs, zest, juice, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt and cinnamon together until well blended. Soak bread for one minute in mixture, turning once.

Melt butter in skillet over medium heat.

Place bread in pan. While the first side is cooking, sprinkle about 1/4 teaspoon sugar on top side of bread. Turn bread when bottom is nicely browned. The second side will cook quickly due to the caramelization of the sugar. Remove from pan. Serve sugar side up.
