Sweet and Spiced Nuts

These addictive snacks get their intense flavor from a combination of soy sauce, chili powder and cumin.

YIELDS

4 cups nuts

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 2 cups walnut halves
  • 2/3 cup Florida Crystals® Organic Raw Cane Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 275°F. Grease a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.

In large bowl, mix egg whites and soy sauce. Add nuts and toss to coat. Mix sugar and remaining spices; sprinkle over nuts. Stir until nuts are completely coated.

Spread nuts in single layer in pan. Bake about 30 minutes or until toasted.

Cool completely. Store tightly covered.
