Sweet & Sour Coleslaw
6 to 8 servings
Simple, with a refreshing taste. This recipe has a crispy, sweet-and-sour tanginess that is unlike a creamy coleslaw.
- 1 medium head cabbage, finely shredded
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped fine
- 3 medium carrot, peeled and shredded
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons Florida Crystals® Natural Cane Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
Blend together the cabbage, onion and carrot. In a small bowl, mix together remaining ingredients.
Combine the vegetables and the dressing, and toss until the vegetables are well coated. Cover and refrigerate at least one hour. Toss again before serving.
Despite the name, celery seeds are not related to the common celery that we know and use daily. They are, in fact, the seeds of the Lovage plant. Their flavor is strong, so a little goes a long way.
