Tips For Allergy-Friendly Classroom Snacks

Allergens are a growing concern in the classrom. Find ways to avoid common allergens with dietary conscious recipes.

Common Food Allergens 101

Parents, now more than ever, are aware of allergies; and the restrictions that they create when preparing classroom snacks and lunches. While the list of most common allergens include peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, soy, wheat, fish and shellfish; you don’t need to eliminate all of these foods from your child’s school menu. Instead, get an allergy list from your child’s teacher and narrow down what ingredients you need to remove from their lunchbox.

If there are any allergies in your child’s classroom, have your child wash their hands and brush their teeth before heading to class. Be extra conscious of these simple steps, if your child has breakfast at home and eats the allergen in question.
